Negotiate Like A Lawyer

How can you negotiate an amazing salary, secure the lowest price on a big purchase or close a major business deal?

Have you ever wondered how lawyers negotiate the best settlements for their clients? Have you ever wondered what tactics high-level business executives use to negotiate some of their most lucrative business deals? Have you considered whether there are specific strategies you can adopt to achieve a better salary, a promotion at work, or a better price in an agreement with a business vendor? Are you interested in mastering the skills that could enhance your confidence as you are discussing prices with a car dealership, potential landlord, or seller for the purchase of a home or investment property?

This book touches on these topics and more. It will discuss:

  • Legal techniques and strategies used by attorneys and business executives during high-stakes negotiations.

  • Insights that can be used to negotiate at work, in business, and in life.

  • Fundamental concepts that underpin successful negotiations and why they are critical.

  • Lawyer-like negotiation skills that are applicable in life.

  • Practical benefits such as negotiating salaries, promotions, and important personal purchases like cars and houses.

  • Common challenges faced in negotiations, such as intimidation, lack of confidence, and miscommunication and an explanation of how to navigate these circumstances.

  • How to overcome objections from the other party during negotiations.

  • How to communicate clearly what you want in a negotiation and justify your position.

  • How to prepare and perform due diligence prior to embarking on a negotiation to have a better chance of a successful outcome.

This book delves deeply into the art of persuasion. It also bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application by providing real-world hypotheticals, exercises and scenarios outlining techniques originating from years of experience negotiating high-stakes legal and business matters.

I haven’t even finished Negotiate Like a Lawyer yet, and it’s already made a huge difference for me. The book is very in-depth but still beginner-friendly, which makes it easy to follow no matter your experience. Before, I used to take things very literally, never realizing that almost everything is negotiable. It applies to both business and everyday life. Since reading just part of it, I’ve faced multiple situations where the answer was initially a firm “no” or “not possible,” but after applying the negotiation techniques, I was able to turn things around and secure much more favorable terms. I honestly wish I had known these things sooner — it’s truly a game-changer!
